Who is it for?
This session is for anyone who is interested in developing their rhythmic skills, learning basic music theory and playing a wide variety of music in a group setting.
A typical session:
The group participate in a rhythm warm up, incorporating new concepts and skills. Basic music theory, drum rudiments, understanding the concepts of rhythm and the roll it plays in a musical setting. Students will analyse music of their own and from other cultures and create an understanding of how it might have come about as well as the emotion the music might try to create.  A piece will be studied then performed. Pieces range from simple call and response to working as a group to create a performance piece using the drum kit or a percussion ensemble.
What will I learn?
Students will develop skills in listening, using and identifying basic musical concepts, other musical cultures, communication, motor control, improvisation, working as a member of a group and taking the lead within.
