Upward Mobility began as an eight week summer programme for adults with learning difficulties. With colleges closed for summer holidays there were few options for individuals of this community in the way of organised activity. It is in this context that Upward Mobility was initiated as a summer programme. This summer programme combined art, music, dance, theatre and film providing individuals with an expansive range of new and exciting experiences. Although the project only lasted eight weeks the results were inspiring and it was all captured on the documentary film entitled The Making of Wong Tong

Upward Mobility will initiate its first official project as a registered charity entitled ”The Making Wong Tong“ June 25th 2007. ”The Making of Wong Tong“ is a collective community film project whose core participants will be this community of adults with learning difficulties. However the purpose of the project is create a community network through the creation of film. Therefore it is our objective to include as many different groups, disadvantaged or otherwise, companies and organisations as possible. In pursuing this collective community project we hope to align efforts, resources and objectives inorder to install a model based on community values where those most disadvantaged segments of society have a voice.
